Which Slicer Should You Use? Cura, PrusaSlicer, Orca

A slicer turns your 3D model into instructions for the printer. Several free slicers do a good job, so here is how to choose.

What a slicer does

It cuts the model into layers and sets speed, temperature, infill, supports and more, then creates the G-code your printer reads.

Cura

A widely used slicer with a large library of printer profiles and many settings. A common starting point for beginners.

PrusaSlicer

A feature-rich slicer with clean profiles that supports many printers, not only Prusa machines.

OrcaSlicer

A popular slicer, based on the same family as Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer, with built-in calibration tools and wide printer support.

Bambu Studio

Made for Bambu Lab printers, and also used by people who like its interface.

How to choose

Start with the slicer that has a ready profile for your printer. Most of them can produce good prints, so learn one well and change only if you need a feature it lacks.
